Major League Baseball [MLB] Throws a Fastball, Announcing CBD Sponsorship

On June 22nd, 2022 the MLB officially welcomed CBD sponsorship into professional baseball.   Provisions include that any and all partners are certified by the NSF, a global health and safety organization, to ensure products do not contain THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound found in Cannabis.

The National Football League [NFL] Awarded $1 Million for Studies Investigating the Effects of Cannabinoids on Pain Management and Neuroprotection from Concussion in Elite Football Players

On June 2021, the NFL made headlines pledging $1 Million dollars to cannabis research and on Feb the 1st, 2022, the NFL officially announced the recipients.  Out of 106 proposals submitted, two teams from the University of San Diego and the University of Regina in Canada were selected by the NFL and the NFL Players Association’s Joint Pain Management Committee to investigate the effects of cannabinoids on pain management and neuroprotection from concussion in elite football players.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association [NCAA] Changed Its Policy to provide for a Relaxed Approach to Cannabis

The NCAA has changed its policy to provide for a relaxed approach to cannabis and the amount of THC an athlete can have to trigger a positive test.  In an effort to align with the World Anti-Doping Agency’s levels, the NCAA Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports has agreed to allow for the threshold levels of THC, (the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis), to increase from 35 nanograms per millilitre to 150 nanograms per millilitre.

Driving for CBD GREEN, The Professional Golf Association [PGA] Removed CBD as a Prohibited Substance for Players

Cannabis culture is evolving on all fronts, making waves in the sporting world, CBD has found the green, playing a role for recovery and relief for Professional Golf Athletes. Golf, a sport tied to its roots and traditions has started debating the role CBD can play.

Despite the slow acceptance, a handful of Pro Golf Athletes have started to use their voice to Break the Stigma, advocate and partner with CBD brands to further the discussion, educate and spread awareness.
