Former Wimbledon Champion, Pat Cash is Serving Up CBD

Former Wimbledon Men’s Singles tennis champion of 1987, Pat Cash, has recently unveiled his venture into the growing world of CBD products. Making the announcement during a guest appearance on the widely-watched Australian television talk show, The Front Bar, Cash revealed his upcoming line of CBD offerings.

CBD is a game-changer for athletes. [For me] it’s 40+ years of professional tennis, and the toll on the body is pretty extreme. I’ve just had my seventh knee injury, from the wear and tear I put my body through… Adding; For an athlete with lots of injuries, lots of anxiety, and who struggled to sleep, what’s going to work? CBD oil ticked every box for me. It’s something that has really worked for me.

Detailing his motivation behind this new venture, Cash spoke candidly during an interview on February 23rd. He disclosed his personal journey with CBD, citing its efficacy in alleviating the toll taken by years of professional tennis, which has included seven knee surgeries.  Reflecting on his experience, Cash emphasized the transformative potential of CBD for athletes grappling with injuries, anxiety, and sleep issues. He stressed its holistic benefits and expressed his commitment to providing natural alternatives to traditional painkillers and sleep aids.

I came across CBD while looking for something natural to help me sleep and as an alternative to painkillers. Athletes are telling us, they don’t want to take pills, they don’t want sleeping pills anymore…

The use of CBD among athletes has gained considerable traction in recent years, with numerous testimonials attesting to its role in post-exercise recovery and overall wellness. Notably, in 2018, the World Anti-Doping Agency removed CBD from its list of banned substances, underscoring its acceptance within the athletic community.

Cannabis has been used for thousands of years. It has incredible medicinal properties to it. Doctors are realizing that cannabis is natural, it’s not a dirty word anymore, and that is why we are seeing a massive boom in cannabis prescriptions in Australia. And I want to be a part of that change.

Cash’s foray into CBD marks a significant milestone, as he becomes one of the first prominent sports figures to endorse and launch a line of CBD products under his own name. His decision stems from a personal quest for natural remedies and a desire to contribute to the evolving landscape of medicinal cannabis.

In a bid to broaden access to CBD, Cash is advocating for regulatory changes, particularly in Australia, where prescriptions are still required for its purchase, even in THC-free formulations. He aims to destigmatize cannabis and amplify its medicinal potential, urging governments to facilitate its wider availability.

I would like to make CBD more readily available for pain relief, anxiety, and all the things it’s great for. This is why I set up this health company. We need to lobby the Australian government and other countries too, to make it more readily available.

Looking ahead, Cash is exploring opportunities for collaboration and partnership within the CBD and medicinal cannabis industry. With a vision to expand his reach and impact, he remains steadfast in his mission to champion the benefits of CBD for pain relief, anxiety management, and overall well-being.
